Acetic Acid 0.6%

A buffered 0.6% acetic acid solution, supplied as a laboratory reagent rather than as a research compound.

Acetic acid is a weak carboxylic acid with a pKa near 4.76, which is what makes it useful as a buffer: near that pH the acid and its acetate conjugate base coexist in comparable amounts and the solution resists pH change on small additions.

Used for pH adjustment and in preparation workflows. Some peptides are poorly soluble in neutral aqueous solution and dissolve more readily under mildly acidic conditions, particularly sequences rich in basic residues where protonation improves solvation.

Whether a dilute acid is appropriate for a given sequence depends on that sequence. Peptides containing acid-labile residues or modifications can degrade under conditions that others tolerate, which is a question for the laboratory rather than the supplier.

Supplied ready to use rather than as a lyophilised cake, so no reconstitution step applies. Storage follows the container: sealed, away from direct light, at controlled ambient temperature unless the label states otherwise.

Because there is no freeze-drying step, the stability window is set at manufacture rather than by how the vial is handled afterwards, and the expiry on the container is the operative date.

Every batch is independently tested through seven rounds of analysis. Identity is confirmed by mass spectrometry and purity quantified by reverse-phase HPLC, with the resulting Certificate of Analysis published against the specific batch rather than the product line.
